DRUM ROLL – #ATOZCHALLENGE -THEME REVEAL 2017

#AtoZChallenge 2017 Theme Reveal is here !!!!

Yipeeee!!! My second year into blogging and my second time in the #AtoZChallenge and I can’t tell you how much i had to convince myself to take this up this year as well. Not that i hate anything about the challenge but more on the other side that is I love the concept of A to Z challenge and being the perfectionist kinda person i am, I wanted to do complete justice with the challenge.

I had my own reasons for being doubtful about it more so because I was not into blogging for the last six months for valid reasons Click here to read I was not sure if I could commit to myself 26 days of continuous writing and that too when i had no theme in my head. And even if i ended up on a theme , alphabets like Q, X and Z alone would make raise the bar of challenge to a whole new level 🙂 I am sure most of you would agree with it. But, i have learnt not to give up and so i wouldn’t this time as well at any cost.

What is the #AToZChallenge about?
Now #AtoZChallenge is all about blogging for 26 days, one day for each alphabet during the April month except for Sundays. It not only helps in networking with many new and old bloggers but you get to learn a lot about yourself while taking up this challenge. Most of us would do a #Reflections post once we “Survive” – yeah that’s what we tell once you finish the challenge. Trust me it seems easy to blog 26 days but when you get into it you fall short of words, you fall short of time, you even fall short of interest. Its not just about writing, you even need to read other blogs which are participating which is essentially the idea behind this challenge.

Does a theme help?
Having a theme is totally up to the participant. While having a theme filters down your ideas about posting it also makes it tough (majority of the times) when it comes to specific alphabets. Many people chose a theme in order to come up with an ebook later on. Some write stories which is good if you have a script in mind; some write poems, some do DIY, some receipes all in all you would find everything under the sky in this blogging world during the challenge.

Theme Reveal
I was certainly wanting to have a Theme as it filters down my random thoughts running all over the place but i ended up banging my head as i would fall short of words for few alphabets and then give up on that idea. Does that happen to you as well ?? (~~ wondering ~~) So today on my way to work i had this Eureka moment of an idea and surprisingly jotting down words for this was the simplest things i have ever done in my blogging life. Sometimes you underestimate the simple pleasures of life.

So let the drums roll while I present to you this years theme of #AtoZChallenge2017 on my blog Life as a Potpourri which is extremely close to my heart and that is

🙂 🙂 🙂 I am so happy with my theme that you guys have no idea right when the day is about to end here in India. It would be an honor and pleasure to talk about my hometown Andaman and Nicobar Islands where i have been born and brought up with all you people out there. Many of you am sure wouldn’t even have heard the place but just to give a sneak peak here are some facts about #ANDAMANS

  • It’s one of the Union Territories of India.
  • It’s an archipelago of about 300 islands.
  • It’s has a history related to Indian Independence.
  • The island’s #Radhanagar beach has been rated Asia’s best beach and World’s 8th best beach by Trip Advisor
  • The waters of Andamans have been rated as the 6th best blue waters all over the world
  • It has the only active volcano of India – Barren Island
  • The 26th December, 2004 Tsunami had majorly affected the islands at it was just about 30 mins from Sumatra the origin of the earthquake which measured about 8.9 to 9.1 on Richter scale
  • Your blog friend – Sneha(that’s me) was born in these islands …just kidding, need to save the info for the blog posts ❤

If those details got you glued and thinking then you should definitely check out this blog cause these islands have a lot to offer, only if you ask 🙂 Also i would be using the hashtag #AmazingAndamans  which is the theme as well along with #AndamanswithSneha and #Galfromtheisland

7 days for #AtoZChallenge

The countdown finally begins – just seven more days to go for the Ultimate Blogging Challenge – #AtoZChallengeI am already getting into the “oh my god will i be able to survive it” zone even before the challenge has actually begun.

So as I always mention in my posts about the happiness an IT folk guy gets during a long weekend, this time too I have an off today (Good Friday) so technically I have three days in hand to do some prep work for the challenge. Like prepare the draft blogs which would have introductory stuff basic ones , signatures to be left on comment, bookmark the blogs I wanna revisit during the challenge, collect images that I would be posting on the blog etc (scroll to the end to visit links that would help you with more details on these tipsbut the typical me just plans all this in the head and executes nothing. 😛 I know it would be that instant flow of words which would come when I would sit to post every single day in April (I work better when my tail is on fire) Plus the Bangalore Summer is not helping me do anything interesting 😦

And when am bored being a couch potato I see the Blogging A to Z Facebook notification of John Holton introducing his Minions , which means I would be on the post somewhere brings this immense boost of happiness and energy to execute all that I had planned. I am a Minion and can’t be a lazy ass. I am the one who should be encouraging others to maintain the enthusiasm and excitement isn’t it? 😉

Drum Roll – #AtoZChallenge -Theme Reveal 2016

#AtoZChallenge 2016 Theme Reveal is here !!!!

Whats special today?? March 21st is the Theme Reveal day for all the bloggers who have chosen a particular theme for the Ultimate Blogging Challenge in the world – the #AtoZChallenge. As discussed in the previous blog, should i have a theme?? Not Really!!! A theme is not a mandatory thing to be followed during the challenge but it just helps you declutter your thoughts, be well prepared and channelized and more importantly gives the audience a heads up on what to expect from your blog during the challenge.

Since this is my very first year into Blogging and more importantly my first ever daily blogging challenge( i thought of starting with the toughest one) i decided on going ahead with a theme for the challenge. And drum rolls, my theme for my first ever #atozchallenge is

Emotions

Yes, you read it right. My theme for the challenge is gonna be related to EMOTIONS, MOODS ,STATE OF MIND of a human beings. Being the emotional creatures we are, and more specifically the Emotional Human Being I am (Cancerian 😛 ) i thought what better than to pour my heart out all in all during this challenge.

What can you expect ? My posts could be like my blog a potpourri of posts, articles, poems, doodles etc.

I am also a Minion:D 😀 😀 for more details click here. I would be reblogging John’s blog post soon which would be an insight into the Holton’s Heroes team

QUOTE CHALLENGE – DAY 3/3

Happy Sunday everyone!!! I am a day late to post my Day 3 challenge but i have proper reason for it and that being it was a Saturday yesterday 😀 and its meant to do either too many things or nothing at all. Am not telling which one did i do 😛

To end the 3 Day Quote Challenge nominated by my friend MADdy the theme i have chosen is someones teachings that really inspires me. You can see a big poster of his in my apartment a huge one, you can find his image as my desktop background, so much so that am pretty sure the next tattoo that i do would be definitely related to him and that is Gautama Buddha.

Just his image brings in so much of peace and solitude within me which i can’t put in words. His life story has so much to teach us besides the enlightenment he showed to people during his sage days. Below are my favorite quotes by Buddha that really inspire me.

The rules are pretty simple and easy to follow:

# Post three consecutive days.
# You can pick one or three quotes per day.
# Challenge three different bloggers per day.

And my nominees for the final day are:

#1. Debra (Cultivating time is all about what you can make of the time you have in this world)

#2. Rochelle (you should not miss out this blog, a blog dedicated to some real bold views and posts)

#3. Noorain (if you are a foodie am sure you ll love this blog so head out to this yummy 😉 blog)

P.S: People who love Writing Challenges check out the A to Z Challenge 2016. This would be my first time and really excited about it. Check out their site and fb page for further details.

Quote Challenge – Day 1/3

One of the interesting fact about blogging that amuses me are the Writing/Blogging Challenges that one gets nominated for by the fellow blogger friends besides their own individual write ups. It not only pushes you to think beyond your comfort zone but also opens up a whole bunch of new blogger friends.

And so a big shout out to MADdy from MADSoul, and just like the name this blog is for all those people who believe in IMPERFECTION IS BEAUTY, MADNESS IS GENIUS (and is also a part of my fav quote) for nominating for the Three Day Quote Challenge and even more cause i have a huge collection of quotes. Do check out my fav quotes: Quotes that Inspired ME over the years and that i keep visiting every time to boost my morale.

I wear my art – inspired from Daily Prompt#01

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Tattoo….You?.”

How i ended up to make this post?? I was looking for these different blogging write up challenges and other random stuff and i came across the Daily Prompts

Though today’s Daily Prompt was – Home Turf i ended up on the search page as the prompt “Tattoo” and this simply brought a smile on my face cause – I AM INKED 🙂 Yeah people and i am totally in love with them (yeah got 2) and I am gonna talk about them in my blog today.

What do Tattoos mean to me? To sum up everything that i feel about tattoos i read somewhere which totally justifies what i feel about the tattoos and it read as “Tattoos are the only things you take to the grave. Having tattoos does not make you a delinquent or a thug..its art! Art is about self expression and creativity. Some people hang their art, we wear ours!” And both my tattoos are very close to my heart cause i had put in a lot of thought in designing them my self.

My First Tattoo:

Inked on : 31st December 2010 Tattoo placing Left upper back shoulder Colors used : Purely black Location : Get Inked Tattoo Studio, Hyderabad, India. Story behind the Tattoo : I was always fantasized by people who had tattoos, i just wanted to go ahead and ask them what they meant, why they needed it etc etc. I started reading about them, their meanings, placing on the body, inks to be used, precautions and everything about tattooing during my college days. I was very scared though – not of the needle or the pain but scared of mom & dad 😛 Not that they are narrow minded or very strict but i think no parent would like the idea of their kids getting inked. So i waited for the right moment and took all my time to think about what i would be getting inked. And so when i moved on from the student phase (After my graduation) to a corporate independent woman i decided its time i get myself inked that would remind me the kind of person i would wanna be in life.

Tattoo meaning : It has four elements – the girl – I am proud to be born as a girl, someone who could give life, someone who is a symbol of both compassion and strength. The wings – for the independence and freedom i would have in my thoughts and actions, the skull – to bury all that brings me down and yet helps me learn from the mistakes and grow as a better person and finally the fire – to always have the spontaneity, fighting spirit and youthfulness. So here is my first tattoo IMG_2950357061177

My Second Tattoo:

Inked on : 26th January 2013 Tattoo placing Left hand inner side near the elbow Colors used : Black and with shades of white Location :  Dragon ink Tattoos, Goa, India. Story behind the Tattoo : I lost my mom to a disease she was suffering from for close to 14 years. She was the strongest woman i have ever know and will ever know. She lived all the odds against the society, married the man she loved despite being from different religious backgrounds, for nurturing us and making us better human beings, for being the most loved teacher of her students. So when she passed away i decided to make her stay with me life long by getting her name inked. And i didn’t had to think of a design much cause her name itself is so beautiful that all i needed was to get her name inked.

Tattoo meaning : My mom’s name HAWAUMMA – which means – The first lady in someones life (how true right?? 🙂 ) that is written in Hindi script ( The Indian language) along with an anchor – that means strength and a heart that in this case shows weakness (you only feel weak for someone when you love them so much) . So the overall tattoo meaning – The first lady in my life – my mother – who is both my strength and weakness.181425_3616966795891_121868538_n

Another Tattoo ??  I might get two more tattoos 😉 One i have in mind with the design also framed in my mind, but that’s only when i reach that age in life –  cant predict if i am gonna see the sunrise tomorrow so yeah holding on to that.  If i am lucky to live those many years i would definitely get the tattoo i have in mind from last couple of years inked for sure. The third tattoo pretty soon – couple of months!! Will keep you guys posted. This one would be another milestone in my life.

 ——- Updated on 24th November 2015 ——-

My Third Tattoo:

I didn’t realize i would end up getting the third tattoo so soon even though i had mentioned couple of months when i originally posted this on 25th Sep 😛 ehhh these are damn addictive!! So here is my THIRD TATTOO and this one being the smallest one so far.

Inked on : 12th November 2015 Tattoo placing Right hand wrist parallel to the arm side  Colors used : Black and with shades of white Location : Skin DeepBangalore, India . Story behind the Tattoo :  As you knew i already had in mind to get another tattoo and was just waiting for the right time and this was a holiday, i really had this feeling of just going and getting inked so all of a sudden i call up the tattoo studio book an appointment and there i am within 20 minutes. And yeah it was raining like crazy and still i managed to go (being the lazy person i am)

Tattoo meaning : Ideally the tattoo symbolize – Faith Love Hope, one symbol for each of the words – simply meaning these three things that’s gonna last forever in a person’s life. Faith-love-hope tattoos come to our rescue when our beliefs oppose what we experience in reality. To sum it all up, this design explains that the pulse of life that will keep beating only if we get an ongoing doze of faith, love, and hope. A simple-yet-powerful thought for the soul! Only modification being i changed the Faith which is generally a cross to a Semi-colon  that has its own story to tell.  A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life .Now people do not get wrong ideas, i never wanted to commit a suicide :P, but i did take the artistic and metaphorical meaning of constant reminder of the things I’ve overcome in my life – be it loss of my mother, depression, anxiety, fear, insecurity etc.12306003_10206933725974725_147802005_nSo will i get more of these tattoos – I DON’T KNOW!! 😛 But yeah i do have a tattoo already designed in my head as mentioned earlier which i would if i celebrate my 50th bdy. But between the age 28-50 anymore tattoos the answer is I don’t know 🙂

SEVEN WONDERS is all you need… from DAILY PROMPT#02

Khalil Gibran once said that people will never understand one another unless language is reduced to seven words. What would your seven words be? In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: Seven Wonders

Personally everyone must have something in life that can keep them going ahead in life. It could be some sort of motto, principle, a statement, a quote or a saying they believe in that keeps one pushing forward and not giving up on  the journey of life. 🙂 🙂 And i managed to sum up mine in  Seven Words that works Wonders for me every time am low, happy, confused, scared or in a huge chaos of emotionsssssssss.. and that is something that i have been using(a summarized version) it in all my blog posts at the end as well –

LIVE. LOVE. LAUGH. And keep it going!!!

Yes, and this is what i truly believe in every single day. I LIVE and not survive, i LOVE all the people in my life, i LAUGH as much as possible its healing and finally i keep it going on repeat mode 🙂 🙂 🙂

Do you have a Seven Word Wonder??? Let me know!!!

Stay happy Stay blessed! 🙂 and wishing all my friends a Happy Dussehra (Indians would know) for my non-Indian friends it’s the festival where Good Triumphs over Evil!!!

SIX WORD STORY CHALLENGE# 7

When i first took up Ben’s Six word story writing challenge i never knew i would get addicted to it and would be looking forward to see the new word that Ben would post every Sunday.  And what follows is a brainstorming session –  one word – so many interpretations – so many stories not only in my head alone but everyone who participates in this challenge. And then to read everyone else’s version of the same word is really interesting.

So my take into the 7th week, this time the Theme being – BETRAYAL

My trial. Witness hostile. Charged guilty.
