Strong willed | Sapiosexual |Cheerful person and a true Cancerian!!! An "amalgamated" "MALLU" (for my non-Indian friends, people from the state of Kerala are called Malayali, but the rest of India has started calling them Mallus lately) as we are addressed by our fellow Indian citizens. Brought up in Andaman islands and living up in a place where people respect another person for their individuality and not the profession, caste or religion has made me a very cosmopolitan in nature and not believe in what many called as taboos. I am a passionate dancer. I enjoy travelling, trying everything possible in life..i don't want to regret while am about to kick the bucket. Besides cooking, writing. I enjoy all kinds of sports. Sadly none of these are my profession. I am techie working with a product based firm and have been in Bengaluru for the last 6 years.

Thank you Teachers!

Teachers’s day was celebrated all over India yesterday 5th September 2015. This occasion is marked to celebrate the birth anniversary of the second President of India, academic philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

 || Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwarah Guru SaakshaataParabrahma Tasmai Shri Guruve Namah ||

Is a widely quoted Sanskrit sloka (verse) which means The teacher is creator Brahma; he is preserver Vishnu; he is also the destroyer Siva and he is the source of the Absolute

Quotes that inspired me!!!

As per Google, the definition of Quote is pretty simple it says – repeat or copy out (words from a text or speech written or spoken by another person) . So simple right?? But aren’t these simple words by some random person leave a huge impact on our lives simply because it contains a wealth of wisdom in a single line.

Read my post on  – How do QUOTES help us???

And there are handful of such simple lines that have kept me going whenever i fell, lost track, lost hope, felt cheated, troubled and crippled in the head. These words changed me as a person, the way i think and even they way i feel for that matter.

I owe a lot to the people who have inspired millions of us from their life experiences, help us give words to how we feel .

—— Quotes that have inspired me and many like me am sure ——

1. “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

2. “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me.” – Erma Bombeck

3. “Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” – Will Rogers

4. “Self -sacrifice ? But it is precisely the self that cannot and must not be sacrificed” – Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead

5. “Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic.”

6. “Dance is a song of the body. Either of joy or pain” – Martha Graham

7. “Life is worth living when you realize that there are a few heart beats to be missed and a few kisses to be received”

8. “Life is a pendulum between a smile and a tear”

9.  “When you came in this world you were crying but the world something that when you die world cries and you rejoice.”

10. “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.” – Helen Keller

11. “It’s not about waiting for the storm to’s about screaming with the thunder, running with the lightning, and learning to dance in the rain”

Finally the  quote that keeps me going every single day is

Fears of love – rather fear of falling in love – Philophobia

Anisha Joshi – no better way to express that feeling when your knees go weak the second time, yet you don’t wanna risk falling down!!! I am sure many gals have been through this including me and the feeling you described is so perfect! Thanks a ton for giving words to our inhibitions and our fears. 🙂

Lets raise a toast to life

She doesn’t know what it is

She thinks of him at times

She wishes to be with someone like him

It is a new feeling, in a new way

She gets the jitters while talking to him

You can feel her heart running a marathon

You can see the shine in her eyes

You can see that smile in her lips

But, she is not sure

She is too scared to fall in love AGAIN

She is strong enough to fall in love for a second time

But, undoubtedly weak to let it go for a second time

Today, while she enjoys talking to someone special

She feels this has happened before

She feels the same

She feels the same fondness and appreciation

She feels the same likeness

She feels like dancing with the daffodils

She feels like singing

She feels the life

But, she also remembers how it all…

How do QUOTES help us???

“Alone we can do so little; Together we can do so much. – Helen Keller”

Well that’s exactly how i feel about QUOTES. I think we have that inspiration within us, a kind of instinct, a spark and each one of us has that spark of inspiration within us, quotes help us connect with that spark.

These are tried and tested over the years, these have motivated people to follow their dreams ranging from self help, to be focused, to trust relationships and people in it, to be disciplined etc etc.  Its like you are walking down the dark tunnel and all of a sudden you see light at the end of it that makes you rejuvenated and confident once again to gather all your courage and to just move towards that light finally leading you to your GOAL.

These are not just words some random people have said, but they are those moments lived, experienced some out of failures, some out of success some by merely being in that moment and from different walks of life.  As humans, we always prefer following patterns and so these quotes deeply impact us, we could totally relate to it and we end up learning from it.

And the best part about the QUOTES is – they are short, sweet and yet leave us thinking so much about it. These are like little reminders to boost our spirits and refocus our day.

So my next post following this are all those quotes which have inspired me, boosted my moral, helped me know my worth, imbibed in me simple words like discipline/trust/love/passion/focus cause without which life would have no meaning , so stay tuned.

My first Award Nomination!!! Yipee!!!

I will have to thank my new blog friend Grace from 20dayworld once again, this time for nominating me for my first Award Nomination. Thanks Grace once again… Can’t thank you enough for finding me in this big world of bloggers and introducing me to so many cool writing challenges….luv luv luv!!! 🙂

And like all Challenges, this too has its own set of Rulesssssss!! ehh!! yes Rules! So bare with it. Its up to you to accept it and continue appreciating new bloggers or just acknowledge the one who has nominated you and just keep up with your blogging.

Grace wanted me to answer the below questions so here it goes 🙂 (disclaimer – i have tried to be as honest as possible 😉 )

Why did you start blogging??  I always wanted to share my experiences, thoughts, things i learn with people around and more than anything i apart from dancing i chose writing to express myself. Therefore I started to blog it so that even when i leave this world my experiences of life are there for others to know and to touch their lives in anyway.

Books or Television?? Can’t choose 😦 About Books – I am not an avid reader , but i do have my preferences and always open to suggestions. I make sure i read them. About Television – i watch lot of random stuff anything apart from melodramatic soap operas i think they are a great source of information along with entertainment.

Idea of a dream date??  In the last few years i have realized there is nothing like a “dream date”. Most of the dates are the first time meetup which you prefer over a coffee or a drink. The second date with the same person (if at all) would lead you to dinner/lunch or a movie. Only a series of such dates might lead you to your dream date  with the person you fall in love with and then my friend, the definition of “dream date” for me would be anything from having street food to a perfect dinner spread near a classy beach restaurant, from dirty dancing to backpacking ,walking in the rain, to just be two couch potatoes.

You finding love or love finding you? Have been looking out for love, finding it , cherishing it and then finally losing it. This time – Love is gonna find me!!! Fingers crossed!!!

Favorite Music band/singer?? Too many beautiful musicians/singers/composers are out there, i love and enjoy all genres of music – they keep changing with my mood. 😛

Best year of your life yet?? Each year has taught me a life experience and they were absolutely awakening, many more to come 🙂

Fancy dinners or take out?? Home cooked food any day any time, along with few fancy dinners once a while.

One thing you always carry with you, excluding electronics?? Coffee beans…weird but i love the fragrance when it gets locked in my clutch.

Where is your Happy Place?? My balcony and the view from it refreshing

One of your unique talents??? Nothing unique that i do, but am good at many things. Jack of all trades i would say

Finally, Who’s the Hero in your life?? My hero is my MOM, though she is not with me anymore but i have learnt everything from her, to be strong, independent, caring and to be a good human being. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again mummy.

And now 11 random facts about me:

  1. I am born and brought up in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
  2. I am a multi linguistic – can speak English Hindi Malayalam Telugu and Tamil( Indian languages)
  3. Played with dolphins in the open sea, amazing experience.

  10. I love pets, currently have two gold fishes which i love to the core. Had a guinea pig once, besides dogs and hens at my dad’s place.
  11. Die hard Game of Thrones fan 😀 😀 😀

Here are my questions for my nominees.

Six Word Story Challenge

I came across this challenge when Grace commented on one of my first few blogs and i was really overwhelmed seeing the comment from a totally random person 🙂 And that was it i ended up going through each and every word of Grace’s blog which undoubtedly is so creative, interesting and something to look forward to like a daily dose of pill you need to have. Thanks Grace once again and yeah as we discussed going to stick to  – Grace’s 20dayworld

This challenge originally was posted by Six Word Story Challenge by Benedict to frame a story in six words based on a theme – a word, which i think is really gonna challenge one’s writing , analyzing and interpretation of a simple word  into so many different experiences and themes.

So here i go with my attempt to this weeks challenge. Waiting to hear your comments

Lost myself cause i lost you

What is the toughest part about Blogging?

The most challenging part about Blogging is Getting Started….isnt it for everything else as well in this world??? 😉

You have something in your mind, and some level of ability to put them into words..that’s all you need. This could be many things ranging from different subjects and genres. But instead you wait. You have number of excuses, but all you are is scared to make the first step and to enjoy that first move which could have lead you to a journey that is yours, owned and laid by you and only you.

Whenever i tried to start a blog the first question that would come in my mind would be – What do i Blog about?  Once i started writing essays on different topics that are mostly given in essay competitions and realized it was very boring, the second time i started with documenting all poems and quotes i had collected over years  – basically the diary i had maintained i thought i ll make it digital 😛 and it sucked after a week.

Every time that i had tried blogging, what also scared me was those blogs which had so many followers, comments, like and shares and to add to the fear even, dare i say it, advertisers!

So i realized its not about what you want to write, its about what you enjoy talking/letting people know/evaluate/analyze/or just like about that you should blog. These big bloggers i mentioned about above, were normal people like you and me, with their own fear and insecurities.

So i decided just like they started blogging by keeping their fears aside, i did the same and started my blog the third and for sure the last one too. (yes am sure its the final one)

Swaraj – Happy Independence Day!!!

Wishing all my potpourriers,

A very happy 68th Independence  Day!!

Today on this day, my message is to all the young professionals specially in the IT sector including myself since i have experienced it myself.

Sometimes it makes me wonder – what would it have been to live before 1947… would we have had the courage to sacrifice our lives for our country..for the freedom of our future generations.???? Honestly, that emotion of patriotism only awakens within us only on the 15th August and 26th January that’s it. Am not being rude, but i think that is the ugly truth. Once we are out of school/college i guess these days only one meaning for us of these dates is..another holiday where in our morning alarm can be turned off or snooze button can be clicked for much more longer than 10 mins.

How hard it is to wake up one day early or may be its your usual timing itself for just those two days for your country … stand up for the National Anthem singing it out loud and see the National Flag – the most beautiful Tiranga being hoisted and flying high, to at least remember all those decades of freedom fight, struggle and so many thousands of lives sacrificed just so that we could all breathe in the fresh air of freedom and independence today.

At least if not the people in the past, but for those brave soldiers few whom you might personally know in some way or other- who chose to stand at the border and risk their lives every single day so that we can sleep in our air conditioned rooms, go to work in peace and maybe talk about movies and sports or go party after office hours.

I think its our responsibility to least, pay homage to those who have sacrificed for us. We the youth our the backbone of the worlds largest democracy should be ever ready to stand up for our country when the time comes and to keep that feeling strong and going, we can start with by waking up and saluting when the National Flag is hoisted tomorrow -15th August 2015 and singing our heart out loud the National Anthem – Jana Gana Mana Adhinayak Jaye Hai Bharat Bhagya Vidhata… … …

I’ll be there watching my flag flying high and singing out loud – will you??

Jai Hind!!! Vande Mataram!!!

Why and what is Life as a Potpourri?

Potpourri – for many this word would be new or even if is known you might well assume how does it relate to life. So to start with what does a potpourri mean is given below (from our common source of searching things – Google o’namah)

potpourri definitions

Isnt life – a mix of different things, a mix of emotions, a mix of experiences, a mix of things we learn over the years, a  mix of habits, notions, principles, actions !!????

Yeah..I enjoyed doing many things, talking about different topics and i never enjoyed keeping those experiences to myself. I would end up telling everyone around me about it. In fact, on doing some homework, i found out that the point of many popular blogs is to share the wisdom people have gained, and equip others to accomplish those same goals from as simple as – how to boil eggs to how to make varieties of egg recipes, from distance between one’s home to the airport  to travelogues on leh and ladakh. From posting about movie reviews to on how to write short stories..infact what and how to start blogging?

So here i am with my blog Life as a Potpourri, in which i would talk about different topics i am interested about, things i have learnt and maybe come use to someone else too.

I am gonna talk about my views on different things in life, about recipes which i have tried and tested(and tasted) , my travel diaries, poems and quotes which have inspired me, simple things that can turn into beautiful home decors and yes…am gonna post questions – to know your thought about it and the best answer would be getting a surprise from me.

The surprise could be anything ranging from – a small gift, a chocolate, a handmade greeting card  -anything that comes up in mind 🙂 So looking forward to participation from folks when i posts polls!! 🙂 ( feels like am bribing you guys 😛 )
