Drawing is exercise for a restless imagination – Tim Burton
One thing that could irritate an IT person is a long weekend…i mean literally four days of holidays and you have nothing to do or nowhere to go cause your friends don’t have as many holidays as you. So the only resort to kill time, not get bored is to DRAW!!!
So here it is the result of a 3 hour dedicated work. I don’t know what to name it so suggestions are open 🙂
Instruments used – Drawing sheet A3 size, Sakura Pigma Micron (08/03/01/02) – they are amazing specially for zentangling, Camlin Klick Pro mechanical pencil.

Khalil Gibran once said that people will never understand one another unless language is reduced to seven words. What would your seven words be? In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: Seven Wonders
Personally everyone must have something in life that can keep them going ahead in life. It could be some sort of motto, principle, a statement, a quote or a saying they believe in that keeps one pushing forward and not giving up on the journey of life. 🙂 🙂 And i managed to sum up mine in Seven Words that works Wonders for me every time am low, happy, confused, scared or in a huge chaos of emotionsssssssss.. and that is something that i have been using(a summarized version) it in all my blog posts at the end as well –
LIVE. LOVE. LAUGH. And keep it going!!!
Yes, and this is what i truly believe in every single day. I LIVE and not survive, i LOVE all the people in my life, i LAUGH as much as possible its healing and finally i keep it going on repeat mode 🙂 🙂 🙂
Do you have a Seven Word Wonder??? Let me know!!!
Stay happy Stay blessed! 🙂 and wishing all my friends a Happy Dussehra (Indians would know) for my non-Indian friends it’s the festival where Good Triumphs over Evil!!!
Because am HAPPY!!! yeah…. who wouldn’t be when you showered with so much of love from the fellow WordPress Community !! 🙂 Yes its award time again and this is from my very bubbly and happy-go-lucky girl Dauntless Dream So here goes another roller coaster ride in answering her questions … …
SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGER AWARD
Thank you so much gal for the nomination!!! And yeah always thought of telling in the comments but i keep forgetting and that is this one line on your blog which brings a genuine smile on my face – “We were born to be real, not to be perfect.” Totally love it!! 🙂 ( i don’t know if there is a heart or love symbol in WP..still new here)
Who is a female figure, you look up to? – No matter how old i grow, how experienced i become, how strong or independent i become; this lady no matter she is not with me anymore in life she has left me with a life full of experiences, stories, sayings, thoughts, advice, love, blessings and prayers and that’s none other than my MOTHER.
A movie that seems like a representation of your life? – Not yet. I mean somehow i find my shades of characters in almost some movie or series but not in complete sense!! My life could be made into a movie for sure;)
Current favorite song? Too many, changes with the mood.
Something you’re bad at and want to get good at? – I can’t whistle and blow a chewing gum 😛 I have been trying this since i was a kid
Meaning behind your URL?- Hope this answers LIFEASAPOTPOURRI
The meanest thing someone has ever said to you?- I don’t remember them cause i ll keep thinking about it over and over again. Well lets just say my answer to them would be – You can love me , you can deny me but you can never ignore me !! 🙂 😉
The nicest thing someone has ever said to you? – I am blessed to be loaded with nicest things every time. So many again that i keep thinking about all those whenever i feel low and it just helps me rise up.
Your opinion on feminism? – Feminism is like two sides of the coin. People tend to use it according to their convenience which i think is totally wrong. Feminism is to feel equal in the society to the male species and should not be mistaken as a means to prove them wrong or inferior or get things done easily for you the woman community. And feminism is not just restricted to one gender but should be considered equally in the society. It does not mean hate men or hate girls (every girl has that one girl on their target hit list :P), it simply means equality in total
What quality do you like in a person?- Nobody is perfect so i don’t expect someone to be perfect in all aspects. But i admire people who are honest to people and honest to themselves, who respect the opposite person and treat people around with care and affection despite difference in age, sex, caste, social and financial status, job profile etc., chivalry in men, intelligent people who talk sense , people who do not have intentions or have actions that harm others. And that one quality that can make me go weak in my knees is someone who can make me laugh.
Favorite accent? –I think as Indians we are accent neutral. Any other accent sounds different and good to me.
P.S – Not nominating anyone cause most people on my blog have already been nominated more than once. Sorry sisters!! 😦
To end with – WE WERE BORN TO BE REAL, NOT TO BE PERFECT
Hello Potpourriers (is that even a word :)) How have you all been doing??
I am so not liking that i didn’t publish even a single post since i reached a +100 followers…how could i be so mean??? Hmmm well.. i am not i so love all my followers for their awesomeness!!.
ZENTANGLE – This was something i came across accidentally on YouTube while looking out for some art tools. I have seen such a kind of art a lot many times but didn’t know it had its own name and fan following. So what exactly it is ?? Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity (i totally agree to that point). It’s like an advanced version of Mehendi designing or Mandala art form (not aware of its international names)
And so i started doing some research on it, beginners, types etc and then started learning them. In no time i realized how addicted i became to this. I would come back home from work, make myself a glass of tea and start learning the basic patterns and then try out some designs. I even ended up buying special Sakura Micro Pens for doing Zentangle. So introducing some of the Zentangle work i have done in the last ten days instead of blogging. Hope you all enjoy and give your honest opinion about it.
Image 02 – First Zentangle – This was the first one i tried. It was a random patterning design where in you draw many repetitive patterns to just form an overall abstract image. This does have few flaws but then i love it cause this was my first hand experience to draw Zentangles.
Image 03 – The Lady I started searching for designs that use Zentangle patterns and i mostly found images of girls. So i decided to use my beginners lessons to start doing a different design – a gal and a peacock. I never imagined it would turn out so beautifully.I like the peacock more 😛
Image 04 – The Gift – I started sharing my art with my close friends and one of them happen to request me to try this patterning on alphabets and since his birthday was approaching i thought of gifting him a Monogram of his name – “R”. I am yet to frame it but this ones for now. I am gonna do one for my home also very soon for the alphabet S
Image 05 – The BRIDE – I love this one so much. I avoided to many patterns and kept it very basic and simple. I wanted to try on some colors over the patterns but the moment i finished coloring the red bow i thought my picture was completed.I am gonna frame this one and hang it on my wall. This is also currently my mobile wallpaper 🙂 🙂
So there it is, all that i have been doing since my last post on the blog. Please do comment and let me know your feedback. And for those who enjoy drawing give Zentangle a shot. Its addictive!!!
P.S – This was my contribution in the #inktober month. Though it’s a thirty-day thing i thought i could customize it accordingly. 😛
Do what you love!!! Happy Blogging!!! 🙂
This was one of the perfect weekends ever since i started blogging two months ago. Best cause this was the best weekend with dad here in Bangalore with me(technically speaking my dad and me have lived for two whole months together after like ten years since i moved out for my graduation and then job), long weekend (3 days of leave for an IT person is absolute bliss) and to see notification on my mobile in the morning that i now have A 100 FOLLOWERS 🙂 🙂 🙂 for my blog plus another Sisterhood AWARD from Dauntlessdream ( i am gonna answer your questions in another post for sure) , What other reasons you need for a perfect weekend?? Yipeeeee Woohoooo and all those adjectives that you wana add to my happiness !!!! I am on cloud nine today!!!
100 followers: BEFORE I STARTED BLOGGING my idea of blogging was totally different from what i have experienced in the last two months. I assumed blogging was just limited to writing your own thoughts and expecting random people to read it. I was also unaware of the happiness one feels when a word press notification pops up on your mobile saying XYZ has liked your post, ABC has commented on your post and more than anything XYZ and ABC have started following your blog!!!
NOW WHEN I AM INTO BLOGGING In the last two months i am sure nothing has made me this happy as much as the blogging world has by accepting me. And it’s not just about me and my blog, but the whole world of awesome writers, thinkers and beautiful people i have come across through my blogging is overwhelming! I am so addicted to read what people have written about certain things, how they have interpreted a simple word in various ways, to know about new cultures and lifestyle that was totally unaware to me that i am glued to my WordPress mobile app more than whatsapp and candy crush :P. I am really really happy!!!!
So am shouting out loud a BIGGGGGGG THANKKKKK YOUUUU to all those wonderful people who have subscribed to my blog, commented, liked, nominated, criticized, for the love and support and motivated to keep me going with LIFE AS A POTPOURRI my blog and not quit this time half way. I am gonna continue my journey which is a positive and enlightening experience for me. BLOGGING is one best gift i have given myself in the recent past and i am in love with it. Also to all my friends who don’t have a word press account yet visit my blog and comment and give their feedback regularly. Thank you Thank you!!!
Being accepted by your family and friends is happiness, but being accepted by the world out there is privilege!!
Giveaway: So i would want to celebrate my happiness by giving away something personalized to all the 100 followers ( i haven’t decided on the logistics yet but i am gonna do this for sure, receiving a 100 followers is a MILESTONE)
Rules are pretty simple: Comment on this blog something about yourself or may be a nickname and abbreviation etc so that i can use it on whatever i am making and your email id (so that i can touch base with you if i further needed to). And i am serious about it!!! Am not selecting people in random but the first 100 subscribers of mine cause am in love with you!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 and ** it’s not limited to India alone** !

What is love? Did you know when love arrived, would you have known when love had arrived at first in your life, did you know when love left ?Most of us have our own version of love in our heart and head, which certainly changes if you have fallen in and out of love in your life. Today i don’t want to talk about love but would want to share something with you all that i was introduced by my close friend Vikas (during office hours 😛 ) and now i am addicted to it, that i listen to it everyday once.
I came across this Spoken Poetry by Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye who have beautifully expressed love in their poem and in its spoken form.I sincerely request you all to listen to this, if you haven’t and would love to hear your thoughts and comments on it.
So when Love Arrives, welcome love and make love comfortable and when Love Leaves, Appreciate and Respect it and make way for more Love!!! Love brings out the best and worst in you, love helps you grow as a better person every time Love Comes and every time Love Leaves!
P.S. I am sure few would have already watched this and have been following them, this is for the ones who didn’t know. After all blogs are supposed to share what you feel and know!Isn’t it???
I knew exactly what love looked like
in seventh grade.
Even though I hadn’t met love yet
if Love had wondered into my homeroom,
I would’ve recognized him at first glance.
Love wore a hemp necklace.
I would’ve recognized her at first glance.
Love wore a tight french braid.
Love played acoustic guitar,
and knew all my favorite Beatles songs.
Love wasn’t afraid to ride the bus with me.
And I knew,
I just must be searching the wrong classrooms;
just must be checking the wrong hallways.
She was there, I was sure of it.
If only I could find him.
But when Love finally showed up,
She had a bullcut.
He wore the same clothes every day for a week.
Love hated the bus.
Love didn’t know anything about the Beatles.
Everytime I tried to kiss Love,
our teeth got in the way.
Love because the reason I lied to my parents.
I’m going to… Ben’s house
Love had terrible rhythm on the dance floor,
but made sure we never missed a slow song.
Love waited by the phone,
because she knew if her father picked up
it would be, (heavy breathing)
“Hello, hello… I guess they hang up.”
And Love grew…
Stretched like a trampoline.
slowly, like baby teeth
losing parts of me I thought I needed.
Love vanished like an amateur magician,
everyone could see the trapdoor but me.
Like a flat tire,
there were other places I had planned on going
but my plans didn’t matter.
Love stayed away for years.
And when Love finally reappeared,
I barely recognized him.
Love smelled different now,
had darker eyes,
a broader back.
Love came with freckles I didn’t recognize,
a softer voice.
Now there were new sleeping patterns,
new favorite books.
Love had songs that reminded him of someone else;
songs Love didn’t like to listen to
so did I.
But we found a park bench that fit us perfectly.
We found jokes that make us laugh.
And now Love makes me fresh homemade chocolate cookies.
But Love will probably finish most of them for a midnight snack.
Love looks great in lingerie but still likes to wear her retainer.
Love is a terrible driver but a great navigator.
Love knows where she’s going,
it just might take her two hours longer than she planned.
Love is messier now;
not as simple.
Love uses the word ‘boobs’ in front of my parents.
Love chews too loudly.
Love leaves the cap off the toothpaste.
Love uses smiley messages in her text messages
And turns out,
But Love also cries.
And Love will tell you, “You are beautiful.”
And mean it.
Over and over again,
“You are beautiful.”
When you first wake up,
“You are beautiful.”
When you’ve just been crying,
“You are beautiful.”
When you don’t want to hear it,
“You are beautiful.”
When you don’t believe it,
“You are beautiful.”
When nobody else will tell you,
“You are beautiful.”
Love still thinks,
“You are beautiful.”
But love is not perfect,
and will sometimes forget,
when you need to hear it most,
“You are beautiful.”
Do not forget this.
Love is not who you are expecting.
Love is not what you can predict.
Maybe Love is in New York City,
You are in California, Australia,
Maybe Love is always in the wrong timezone.
Maybe Love is not ready for you.
Maybe you are not ready for Love.
Maybe Love just isn’t the marrying type.
Maybe the next time you see Love is twenty years after the divorce.
Love looks older now but just as beautiful as you remembered.
Maybe Love is only there for a month.
Maybe Love is there for every firework,
every birthday party,
every hospital visit.
Maybe Love stays.
Maybe Love can’t.
Maybe Love shouldn’t.
Love arrives exactly when Love is supposed to.
And Love leaves exactly when Love must.
When Love arrives,
say, “Welcome, make yourself comfortable.”
If Love leaves,
ask her to leave the door open behind her,
turn off the music,
listen to the quiet,
whisper, “Thank you for stopping by.”
Spread Love !!! Spread love through your writings, poems, views!!! –Sneha(gal from the Islands)
This post is specially addressed to Jean from Miss Twisted Sense Of Humor who had asked me few questions in her Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award for which she was nominated by me only 😛 🙂 and am so glad she had answered my questions (tough and that would definitely make you think before you pen down – do have a look at Jean’s Answers!
So now time to answer her questions (i love this part about blogging helps know the fellow blogger a little bit more every time):
A unique quality of yours? – hmm sadly i don’t think i have anything unique about me but am good at doing many things be it academics, dance, art, sports, cooking , entertaining people with my stories, being a daughter to a Hindu Dad and Muslim Mom, being born and brought up in Andaman and Nicobar Islands,India etc etc isn’t that UNIQUE 🙂
What’s your jam? – My playlist changes with the moon ( am a cancerian and our mood changes with the changes in the moon 😛 ) so yeah too many songs from too many genres and languages. I am a multi linguist (Indian languages alone , haven’t crossed the country yet)
What are ur views on alcohol? What’s ur preferred alcohol and why? – I am gonna be very straight with my thoughts here. It’s clearly known that too much of anything is not good for health. So if one wants to get into trouble so be it have as much as you can. Everyone is grown up to make the choices they want to and i think that’s totally fine. Only thing that i cant tolerate is doing irritating things, losing control, puking around, ending up hurting others and oneself and then blaming it on the alcohol. I have tasted all kinds of liquor but i prefer a red wine on any day it goes with any kind of audience, place, mood and yet looks classy!
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I say ‘feminism’? – I sometimes feel its over rated, feminism is like two sides of the coin. It does not mean hate men or hate girls (every girl has that one girl on their target hit list :P), it simply means equality in total.
One character in a book/movie who you connect with? – I think i have more than Fifty Shades of Sneha so i personally connect with many characters both in books and movies and i like that and wouldn’t want to restrict myself to just one. I could be the Cinderella one day and fighting out in the battle like a Spartan queen, Some days i am the Joy from Inside out and some days i am the Cersei Lannister or Mystique from Marvels for being powerful and clear in what they wanted 🙂 🙂 🙂
Do you have any regrets? If so, what is it? – I do many during different years of my life but that feeling would last for a month or two till the time i am done repenting about it and crying but then i treat all of those moments as lessons learnt and add them as experiences in my life. But only regret that’s constant throughout is i always end up thinking from my heart and land up in trouble i forget to carry the brain along 😛
What is the stupidest thing you have ever done? – I’m actually embarrassed to tell this.:) I accidentally walked into a men’s washroom in my office. And i have a proper justification for this. It was my first day in that particular office campus and i was hurrying to catch my office bus in the evening, and most of the times i have seen the ladies washroom to be on the left of men’s washroom which was not in this case. But thankfully there were hardly any men, just a few washing hands and setting their hair ( i didn’t turn to the other side, lucky me:) ) And then when i realized i had entered the wrong place which took almost a minute or two i ran out of the door without even looking back.
One person that you would die to meet – In the literal sense, I would die to meet my Mom again! That should answer it all.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you be? And don’t say home! – Anywhere in this world would do if i could survive one the climatic conditions and two with my loved ones. But i would like to visit Corsica, Bora Bora ,Bali some day.
What do you think about me? 😀 Please be honest! – Hmm so one day i end up at this 19-year-old gal’s blog Jean and i read her posts and more specifically her post Okay (deep breath). This is it!!! and i was happy to know that she was all sorted to know about herself what she actually liked and things she hated (at 19, i was busy doing my graduation and accepting my daily changing attitude and persona). Few things i could totally relate to her in her post being south Indians, breaking things and not hearts, not having a backspace key for my mouth etc. She is fun, young, bubbling with ideas and things to talk about and for being very honest in her words. So Jean, be the way you are, be in love with yourself and make every one happy around you and with your posts in the blogging world. Wishing you all the happiness and love girl! muah 🙂
P.S: I hope i answered your questions 🙂 Waiting to hear from you. Loads of love and many congrats for the award once again!!!
